Jelly Tea Cakes
This was Grandpa Ike's favorite. A bit of effort here, but, oh, so worth it!
Make the dough a day ahead so it has a chance to cool before rolling out.
Make 3 1/2 dozen cookies. This recipe can easily be doubled.
4 cups flour 1 cup butter 1 1/4 cup sugar 1/4 teaspoon salt 1 tablespoon heavy cream 4 egg yolks 2 tablespoons vanilla
Mix together the above ingredients and chill several hours or overnight.
You will also need: 2 egg whites 1 cup crushed walnuts 1 jar of red currant jelly
To make the cookies, you will need a round cookie cutter, about 2 inches in diameter and something to cut a small circle in the top cookie
